We are thrilled to have the trio, sometimes known as the Seamus Egan Project with us for our December concert.
We know them as friends and community members but also as brilliants artists! It's difficult to edit all of the information about the musical trails they've blazed, so for folks that are new to Seamus, Moira and Yann, please continue reading. (scroll down for admission details.)
It’s hard to think of an artist in traditional Irish music more influential than Seamus Egan. From his beginnings as a teen prodigy, to his founding of Irish-American powerhouse band Solas in 1996, to his current work as one of the leading composers and interpreters of the tradition, Egan has inspired multiple generations of musicians and helped define the sound of Irish music today.
In 2018, with Solas on hiatus, Egan began touring as a solo performer, bringing along friends and musical guests, and making music as Seamus Egan Project that points towards the origins of Solas in the 1990s. In 2020, he released Early Bright hailed as “A perfect balance of energetic and wistful, modern and traditional, Early Bright finds Egan weaving all his disparate musical strands into an emotionally powerful whole.” – Acoustic Guitar.
Solas will be celebrating their 30th Anniversary with a tour in the spring of 2025.

Yann Falquet~Yann Falquet is a dynamic Québécois guitarist in the world of traditional music. He is a versatile artist who has already explored several styles and, although well-established, continues to deepen his knowledge of both creation and interpretation.
In 2000, Yann co-founded Genticorum, a Québec-based traditional music trio with Pascal Gemme and Nicholas Williams. Since then, he has traveled the world sharing the group's songs. Over the years, he has collaborated with Seamus Egan Project, Hanneke Cassel, The McDades, Olov Johanson (Väsen), Liz Carroll, Bruce Molsky, Cillian Vallely & Kevin Crawford (Lunasa) and Montréal composer Jean-François Bélanger's ensemble.
Without abandoning these enriching collaborative projects, Yann decided to invest some of his energies in a solo project. Inspired by folk music from near and far, he expresses his love of traditional music with a new sound.

We love Mike & Ruthy and are so happy to welcome them back to The Burnham Hall stage!
When it comes to chemistry, Mike Merenda and Ruth Ungar have plenty to spare. Onstage, they are Mike + Ruthy, a husband-and-wife duo setting the folk scene ablaze. Singers and storytellers, poets and parents, the two tour with their children in tow, embodying a down-home approach to Americana that is honest, beautiful and raw. Bouncing between festivals and intimate venues, these troubadours bring harmony-driven fiddle and banjo tunes to more than 100 shows a year.
A recent tour of the UK, prompted this concert review from Celtic Music Radio, “Hailed by many as Americana trailblazers, Ruth Ungar and Mike Merenda, happily married and exuding togetherness on stage, are also gently-mannered activists with well-crafted songs that successfully ask potent questions and raise issues to probe how we can improve the planet. They deliver their material persuasively and in an eloquent manner with enjoyment of their music underpinning the approach overall. The music is the motivator throughout.”
Mike + Ruthy concerts blend artistry and authenticity, with fiery fiddle & banjo, emotionally potent harmonies, and dynamic stories that deepen the experience. Tap your toes, dance, or sit back sing along as Mike + Ruthy “roam effortlessly through the whole span that is Americana, from alt-country to folk to bluegrass." (The Bluegrass Situation)

We are long time fans of Jean Rohe and are thrilled to present her newest ensemble Eureka Shoes for our March 1st concert!

Featuring delicious three-part harmonies, other-worldly twin fiddling, and lyrics that will break your heart and put it back together again better, Eureka Shoes is a new songwriting power trio of Charlie Burnham, Jean Rohe, and Skye Steele These longtime friends and collaborators have each achieved notoriety in their respective worlds of jazz, folk, and pop music, and now join forces to bring you an entirely new sound. Rounded out by bass virtuoso Rashaan Carter, Eureka Shoes has a sound that is one part string quartet, two parts jazz combo, and soulful all the way down.
Charlie Burnham is one of Brooklyn's own musical treasures-- a fiddler, singer, and multi-instrumentalist renowned for the depth of his musicality and imagination, who over the course of five decades has collaborated with distinguished artists from Cassandra Wilson to Norah Jones to Wynton Marsalis to Living Color.

Skye Soto Steele got his start playing fiddle in the subways after moving to N.Y.C. at 17, and has gone on to work with a rainbow of artists ranging from singer-songwriter Vanessa Carlton to jazz legend Anthony Braxton, in between self-releasing four albums of his own songs and touring independently across the US and Europe.

Jean Rohe is perhaps best known as the author of our nation’s next National Anthem, Arise! Arise!, and for her 2019 Independent Music Award winning release, Sisterly (Best Adult Contemporary Album). She has been stirring up trouble around the country with her unique brand of folk-songwriting-activism since before she could come in the front door of the bar. The three had been friends and collaborators for over a decade when the offer of a recording retreat from Looking Glass Arts in the Catskills spurred them to combine forces as never before to become... Eureka Shoes.

Keith Murphy and the Band of Amber
We have been big fans of Keith Murphy's music for many years.
We are so excited to bring his new expanded full band sound to our stage!

He is a noted instrumentalist, and well known for his playing with Nightingale, Childsplay, Boston Revels, Tony Barrand, Hanneke Cassel, Yann Falquet, and his most enduring collaborator, his wife and fiddler Becky Tracy.
His direct and intimate style of traditional singing in English and French infuses old ballads and songs with a powerful immediacy while his rhythmic and percussive finger style of guitar playing brings new shape and color to his songs.
After three acoustic-based solo recordings, Keith turned to a new instrumental lineup for his most recent solo project, “Bright as Amber,” which delicately incorporates bass, drums, and electric guitar over his fingerstyle acoustic guitar and singing of old songs.
Bringing this sound to the stage is a band of incredible musicianship.

Anand Nayak is a Grammy-nominated producer and multi-instrumentalist who crafts beautifully sensitive and atmospheric textures on electric guitar.

Richie Barshay who has played with the likes of Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Natalie Merchant, and Bobby McFerrin, is member of the Klezmatics, and is a drummer of astounding range and musicality.

Ty Gibbons is an acclaimed composer for film and TV, and a member of the Vermont indie folk band Red Heart the Ticker. As an acoustic bass player, he melds an understanding of traditional folk song with his other wide-ranging musical talents.
